Sharing books is one of the easiest ways to build language and enjoyment of stories. You do not need a long formal reading session.
Make it interactive
Talk about pictures, ask what might happen next, repeat favourite phrases and let your child choose books.
Re-reading the same story is useful too. Familiar stories give children opportunities to join in and remember language.
