Some 2-year-olds in England can receive funded early education and childcare if the child or family meets the relevant eligibility rules. Eligibility can depend on circumstances, so it is important to check the current government service rather than relying on an old list or social-media post.
What should parents do?
Use the official childcare checker, contact your local authority if you are unsure, and ask your preferred nursery or pre-school whether it offers the funded entitlement you qualify for.
Does funding guarantee a place?
No. Funding and availability are separate. A setting may have funded places but be full on your preferred days or sessions.
